Frequently asked questions

What is VetCamps?

VetCamps is a map-first mobile app for discovering military FamCamps, Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) recreation sites, national parks, selected other points of interest, and (where enabled) related facilities. Features can include saved places, filters, place details, and optional community content when that experience is turned on in your build.

Is VetCamps an official U.S. government app?

No. VetCamps is developed independently. It may display information drawn from public federal datasets and APIs (for example, NPS or USACE) and other sources described in our Data sources & legal disclosure. Always confirm hours, access, fees, reservations, and eligibility with the official facility or agency before you travel.

Where does campground and map data come from?

Data is compiled from bundled catalogs, optional live network sources (when keys and settings are enabled), and user-submitted content such as reviews. Attribution and limitations are summarized on the Data sources & legal disclosure page.

Why does a place not appear on the map, or why are details incomplete?

Coverage depends on the data sources available for that build, your network connection, filters, and whether optional integrations are configured. Some pins require API access or a data update cycle. If something looks wrong for a specific location, email support@vetcamps.app with the place name and approximate area.

Do I need an account to use VetCamps?

Many discovery features work without signing in. Signing in may be required for saved preferences across devices, community features (when enabled), or other account-linked functions described in the app.

How do I delete my VetCamps account?

Use the in-app account deletion flow where available, or follow the instructions on our Account deletion page. You can also email support@vetcamps.app from the address associated with your account if you need assistance.

What are Community features?

When enabled, Community can include feeds, posts, profiles, or related social features. Behavior and rules are described in the Community guidelines and Terms of use. If Community is off in your app version, those surfaces may be hidden.

How do I report offensive or harmful content?

Use in-app reporting tools where available. You may also email support@vetcamps.app with a link or description of the content and (if applicable) the user profile or place involved.

Does VetCamps sell my personal information?

Our practices are described in the Privacy policy. Contact support@vetcamps.app for privacy-related requests.

Are map directions or on-site conditions guaranteed?

No. Maps and directions are for planning only. Road closures, base access rules, weather, construction, and site-specific policies change. Always verify with official sources before traveling, especially for military installations and federal recreation areas.

I am building VetCamps from source. Why do some remote layers not load?

Some datasets require API keys or compile-time configuration (for example, map tiles or optional government APIs). See project documentation in the repository and your secrets / environment setup. End users of store builds should not need to configure keys.

How can I suggest a feature or partnership?

Email support@vetcamps.app with a clear subject line (for example, "Feature request" or "Partnership"). We cannot guarantee a timeline but we welcome feedback.
