VetCamps ("VetCamps", "we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy and handling
your information responsibly. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use,
store, disclose, and protect it, and the rights and choices available to you when you use the
VetCamps mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Services").
1. Scope and Acceptance
By accessing or using the Services, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy
Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Services.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Name (if provided), email address, and account identifiers
- Authentication metadata from supported sign-in providers
User Content
- Reviews, comments, ratings, and profile content submitted by users
- Photos or media uploaded by users (for example, campground or review photos)
Purchases (optional)
- If you use optional in-app purchases (for example, tips or similar), Google Play processes payments
- VetCamps may receive limited purchase or entitlement information needed to confirm the purchase and provide the feature (for example, transaction or product status). We do not receive or store your full payment card number
Military Verification Information
- Users may verify service status through ID.me (when enabled) or submit military verification images/documents for eligibility review
- Verification files are reviewed solely to assess eligibility for verification features; they are not used for behavioral advertising
- We do not sell verification data or use it for behavioral advertising

Deletion of identification materials after verification:
Government-issued identification, military forms, and similar documentation submitted for service
verification are processed only for that purpose. After a verification decision is recorded in our
systems (including when verification is approved), those source files and images are
permanently deleted from infrastructure we control using industry-standard deletion
practices so that they cannot reasonably be recovered. We retain only minimal, non-identifying
records needed to reflect verification status (for example, approved, pending, or denied status and
relevant timestamps), not copies of your identification documents or full submission packages,
except where limited retention is required by applicable law or to resolve an active legal
investigation, dispute, or abuse inquiry.
Location Information
- Approximate and/or precise location may be accessed while the app is in use
- Location is used for nearby campground discovery, maps, and navigation-related features
- VetCamps does not request background location for continuous tracking
Device/Usage Data
- Diagnostic and technical information, including crash logs when crash reporting is enabled, to maintain reliability and security
- Technical metadata such as device type, OS version, app version, and language/region settings
3. Permissions We Request (Android)
android.permission.CAMERA: Used only when you actively choose to capture an image, including optional ID/verification or review uploads. Camera access is not used in the background.
android.permission.ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION and android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION: Used for map and nearby campground functionality while the app is actively in use.
- Media/storage permissions (where applicable by Android version): Used to select photos from your device for uploads you initiate.
4. How We Use Information
- Provide, maintain, and improve core app functionality and account access
- Display maps, campgrounds, and location-relevant results
- Review military verification requests and manage eligibility status
- Monitor security, detect abuse/fraud, and enforce policies
- Provide customer support and service communications
- Comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes
5. Legal Bases for Processing (Where Applicable)
Depending on your jurisdiction, we process personal information under one or more legal bases,
including: performance of a contract (providing Services), legitimate interests (security,
operations, and improvement), consent (where required), and legal compliance.
6. Service Providers and Third-Party Processing
We use trusted service providers to operate VetCamps. These may include:
- Google Firebase services (for example, authentication, cloud database, file storage, and app infrastructure)
- Mapbox for map display, map tiles, and related mapping services
- Google services where used in the app (for example, Google Maps Platform / Places or related APIs for map-related or place-detail features), subject to Google's applicable terms
- Google Play Billing for optional in-app purchases processed through the Google Play Store
These providers process data on our behalf under contractual controls and only as needed to
provide app features and operations. Payment card processing for purchases is handled by Google Play;
VetCamps does not receive or store complete card numbers from those transactions.
7. Data Sharing and Selling
VetCamps does not sell personal information. We may disclose information only:
- To processors/service providers required to operate the Services
- When required by applicable law, legal process, or valid governmental request
- To protect users, VetCamps, or the public from fraud, abuse, or security threats
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or asset transfer, subject to appropriate safeguards
8. Data Retention
- Account/profile data is retained while your account remains active or as needed to provide Services

Military verification source documentation: Images and files submitted for
identification or service verification are removed on the schedule described under
“Military Verification Information” above. In ordinary circumstances, deletion occurs
shortly after the verification determination (typically within twenty-four (24) to seventy-two (72)
hours of decision), subject to technical processing and backup rotation cycles. Longer retention
applies only where required by law or for documented security, fraud-prevention, or dispute-handling
needs.
- ID.me verification references (when used) are retained only as needed to maintain verification status, security, and compliance records, per ID.me’s applicable terms and our agreements with them
- Certain logs and security records may be retained for a limited period to prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations
9. Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect
personal information. Data in transit is protected using HTTPS/TLS where supported. No system can
guarantee absolute security, and users are responsible for safeguarding account credentials.
10. Your Rights and Choices
You may access, update, or delete certain account information through the app settings.

11. International Data Transfers
If you access the Services from outside your home country, your information may be transferred to
and processed in locations where our service providers operate.
12. Children's Privacy
VetCamps is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information
from children under 13.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last Updated" date reflects the latest
revision. Material changes may be communicated in-app, by website notice, or through other
reasonable methods.
